The Brome Squirrel Buster Plus is a weight-activated bird feeder, developed by Brome Bird Care in Knowlton, Quebec, that holds up to 3 quarts of seed across six feeding stations and automatically closes its seed ports when a squirrel or large bird's weight lands on the base.
The feeder's base normally sits open, aligning with the seed ports so birds can feed freely. When a red or grey squirrel, or a large bird, puts its weight on the base, a spring mechanism drops the base and closes off access to the seed, without harming the animal. That weight threshold is fully adjustable: removing the feeder cap and twisting the transparent cartridge clockwise raises the weight setting, while twisting it counter-clockwise lowers it, so the feeder can be tuned to exclude squirrels only, or to also discourage larger birds if a household prefers to favour smaller species. A weight-comparison chart for common birds and squirrels is included to guide that adjustment.
The feed tube holds up to 3 quarts of seed. To close it, one of the dimples in the green feeder cap is aligned with the yellow dot on the reservoir, the cap is pressed down, and then rotated 90 degrees to lock it in place. The base and cap are rustproof, green powder-coated aluminum, and the clear reservoir is UV-stabilized polycarbonate, so it resists yellowing and cracking from sun exposure over time. The whole assembly comes apart by hand for cleaning, and the feeder hangs from the included 6-inch metal hanger.

"This is the third Squirrel Buster Plus Bird Feeder from Brome that we buy. It is very efficient against squirrel and the only one that can prevent grackles from feeding. You have to adjust the spring inside carefully otherwise even the lightest birds will no be able to feed."
