De-shelled peanuts (peanut halves) are a great “no waste” seed to attract woodpeckers, chickadees, wrens, titmice and nuthatches. Peanuts have long been used in Europe to feed birds and have become very popular the last few years in Canada. Peanut feeding has become so popular that there are now many feeders designed just for feeding peanut halves.
Peanut halves are especially popular with woodpeckers, jays, nuthatches, chickadees. Titmice, cardinals and finches will even eat peanuts halves if they are in an appropriate feeder.
