Bti Targets Mosquito Larvae Before They Can Bite
Bti is a bacterium toxic only to mosquito larvae. It kills them before they are old enough to bite, which reduces adult mosquito populations. It works on the larvae of all roughly 2,500 mosquito species.
Where the Dunks Can Be Used
- Water troughs
- Koi ponds
- Birdbaths
- Rain barrels
- Flower pots
- Gutters
- Any place where water collects and remains for periods of time
A dunk can be broken into smaller pieces for less water coverage.
Additional Safety Information
- Bti is non-toxic to birds and most other non-target organisms.
- The EPA has registered the dunks for use in animal watering troughs and fish habitats.
- The dunks are approved for organic production and gardening under the National Organic Program guidelines.
- A dog that eats an entire dunk is not adversely affected, per the page.
