A Splash of Colour

birdwatching |

The spring fashion show has birders gazing in awe at the variety of bright colors that have appeared in our forests, parks and even in our yards. Male warblers are looking their feathered best with Black-throated Blue, Blackburnian and even the Common Yellowthroat strutting their stuff. Many will head further north while others will remain. The Yellow Warbler can be found in a variety of habitats with some even showing up in our yards. All are singing up a storm to proclaim their territory.

These smaller birds compete in the show with Baltimore Orioles, Rose-breasted Grosbeaks and of course the Scarlet Tanagers. All of these magnificent songbirds are back from distant lands for another breeding season. Enjoy them because by mid-July some will be returning South once again.

Happy Birding!
