A plush based on an actual genetic mutation, rather than an invented color, gives a stuffed animal a real natural-history story behind it. Hi-Wire Black Squirrel is a 6.5-inch plush modeled on the black coat variation found in wild squirrels, recommended for ages 24 months and up.
What's the Story Behind the Black Squirrel's Coloring?
The dark coat is the result of a genetic mutation, not a separate squirrel species, and the plush's sleek, dark design is built to reflect that real coloring. It's a detail that gives the toy an actual natural-history talking point rather than just an unusual color choice.
Where Does the Name "Hi-Wire" Come From?
The name comes from the idea of spotting a black squirrel scampering along power lines, a nod to where this color variation is often noticed in the wild. It's the plush's given character name rather than a reference to any poseable or mechanical feature.
What Age Group and Care Instructions Apply to This Plush?
This plush is recommended for ages 24 months and up and is machine washable, made with polyester fill throughout. That combination makes it practical for a younger child's regular handling and washing.
