Millions of birds reach Ontario each spring, heading to their breeding grounds. Many are not even seen because they fly at night, arriving at their destination in forests further north without stopping for a break. However, there are still plenty of songbirds that make their way through every park and greenspace in the province, some pausing to feed and others to remain through the summer.Â
All of your favourites will be joining them – Baltimore Oriole, Scarlet Tanager, Yellow Warbler, Rose-breasted Grosbeak, Ruby-throated Hummingbird, Indigo Bunting and Common Yellowthroat, just to name a few. With luck you will see many of these as the migration advances. A few could visit your yard while others will be in area greenspaces. Get your hummingbird feeders out and perhaps you’ll have a few surprise visitors soon.
Happy Birding!
